i am a fan of HDR...but when shooting a pic of a white/silver car you have to watch out...cause it's easy to turn that white/silver car into a grey car....which your car was silver so it's not so bad...but the gradients of the color on the car doesn't look right...

Since I'm learning, what would a certain situation be for using HDR with an automobile?

I think his point was to say not to use the car. Out of the HDR images I have seen on here, the best ones (imo) were of buildings and scenery (no vehicles involved).

On a side note, now I know of three states that have cities dubbed "Groton" (ny & ct being the other two).

I liked the pics

I like it. I don't know if I like HDR's yet or not. It looks like every other HDR done of a car. They are nice photos though.

I love the look of HDR, however (I'm assuming) it's the reflection of the road in the shiny sliver of the car, but it looks really dirty. Almost like it had been driven a few miles on a dusty dirt road.

I don't think of HDR as a novelty. Processed correctly, one can achieve great results from them. The problem with shooting automobiles is the reflections: you have to be careful of your surroundings. In his case, the harsh reflections of the sun are very distracting which also takes away from the vehicle's beautiful shape.

The second problem I see is in the post processing. The image is on the flat side and the color temperature is too warm which doesn't help in color separation.

You have a lot of detail in your images -- don't be afraid to push the PP on them to make your images more dramatic.

Sorry, but the first one is too much. Silver cars must be more difficult to avoid the cheap paintjob look.

It's just a little camera. Flickr (external link)
