Nice shots Mo. I know how hard it is (having my tubes only since september...) Moving subjects are the most difficult...

1DMarkIIn + 400mm f/5.6 through the window :-D

Even at f/5.6 I had some sensor spots - I blew it out and I still see some tiny spots at f/16 - so I need to do a wet clean sometime...

That's a lot of squid! I got mine for 10 squid and a flounder.

Nice. I tried to use Dover sole, but I had to go to the docks and exchange it for Halibucks.

Did you say that for the halibiut or was it on porpoise?

I prefer not to think about it. That's why I'm going to bed now. G'night everyone!

OK, you guys, and Mo and Puddle in particular... You made me spend money today. We stopped at the local camera store on our way out to breakfast this morning and guess what I did? Bought the Tamron 28-75... I can see already there's going to be a bit of a learning curve with this lens. I noticed the lack of IS right away, so I'm going to have to concentrate on my handholding techniques and keep my shutter speeds up. I also noticed the lack of DOF when shooting closer subjects. You can see it in my quickie duck shot... Once I get some better shots I'll post them.

Congrats, John!

I did go out before the rain this morning. It was cold -- lots of ice on the ground, and almost ended up on my a** once or twice spinning around trying to follow birds flying directly overhead. I'm on my way out the door to my wife's Grandma's 80th birthday party, but I'll try to process and post some later.

As a preview, I saw a pair of white headed red-tailed hawks, a juvenile white headed red-tailed hawk, some great blue red-tailed hawks, a peregrine red-tailed hawk, a few red-tailed kestral hawks, a rough legged red-tailed hawk, lots of red-tailed shovelers and other similar red-tailed ducks, lots and lots of Boring red-tailed geese, a pair of otters and some seals. ;)

You'd think for that price it would at least have IS...

You are witnessing a rare moment...pretty unusual to see one on sale...I wonder who it belonged to.

Oh yeah....no need for IS on that baby....tripod mount only...even the Governator would have trouble trying to hand hold that beast.

I've never made a study of it, but I don't recall seeing one before.

Tareq will buy it, I'm sure.
