My next "must have" lens...

You'd think for that price it would at least have IS...

What in the world would you shoot with that. If I took it to the track I guess I could photo the eyes of the drivers as they passed by.

I'd take it to Charlotte with me....I usually camp between turns 3 and 4 in the infield....so I could have a great view of turn 2 as well.

300mm just doesn't cut it.

OK, you guys, and Mo and Puddle in particular... You made me spend money today. ....

'Grats, John. I hope you like the lens as much, if not more than I do.

As for the 1200 mm.... Um.... maybe with my tax return....

Hi everyone.

Had a productive afternoon...picked up park passes at GIJoes and went birding with Chris. We went looking for (and found) a burrowing owl (something none of us had photographed before) and we saw 5 bald eagles (I got 2 shots of them in a field but nothing to write home about...just as a memory). There were 3 adults and two juveniles...just haning about...the burrowing owl was so cool. So much littler that I thought...almost kestral size. We photo'd a kestral today too but I didn't get anything to write home about.

congratulations on your new lens John. I think you will like it :) That narrow DOF is awesome for isolating your subject but your right, it takes a bit to get used to no IS.

I couldn't tell you how we got to the owl, it wasn't in a park...Chris drove (it was off of 99E south) but then we went to WF...nothing out today except the kestral. The eagles were in the same area as the owl.
