Artist Name in EXIF Data

Often when looking at the EXIF data I see the Artist listed (tag 013B). Not to be confused with Owner Name (tag 0009).

Where does the Artist name come from? From where is it entered?

It can be added into the EXIF data by many tools. I use Photo Mechanic as part of my workflow and I add it in then. Mainly for copyright reasons.

It's part of the EXIF standards. I use iView Media Pro (now Media Expressions) to enter if necessary. This is good for when I do collaborations with digital artists who use my photos to create derivative works.
