I am debating which software should I buy to complete and stiching panoramic images. The two I have in mind are: Autupano Pro and PTgui. Anybody knows or familiar with this Software? The next question: To shoot panorama horiozontally is straight forward, but what about vertically?

I have AutoPano Pro. It is brilliant. Works better than PTGui in my experience. I don't do many panos, but APP can correct distortion automatically so you can get away shooting horizontally, or you can zoom your lens in a bit to remove most of the distortion, then take the series of shots.

Or you can also shoot vertical.

i have Panorama Studio & Stitcher 5. Both work great, but i use P Studio the most since im most comfortablw w/ it. I wanted stitcher for a long time, finaly got it & i never use it.

as for the vertical pans i mount a L bracket on my hand crafted VR head. it works great!

Autostitch is a very powerfl (and free!) program for blending multiple shots together; although, it is said the Photomerge function in Photoshop CS3 has been through a bit of an overhaul producing more effective panoramic blending. Autostitch is the base program that Autopano Pro is derived.

You can download Autostitch here:

Here's one of my first shots with that P&S handheld and the help of Autostitch.

I am looking to start doing 360 panoramics and marketing to real estate agents. I figure I won't have to put a lot of money into it, $1000 max for a new lens, tripod mount, software, and marketing material

I already have my business in place, and I am looking to branch out. One of my friends is a real estate agent, and he said that they would eat this stuff up. He has a friend who does it as a side job with a P&S and makes an extra $35,000/year with it.

I have been searching on the subject, and have come across conflicting information on fisheyes vs. UWAs. I'm looking at picking up the Tokina 10-17 fisheye for my 30D, and wondering what the best software out there for a Mac is.

I want to do full panos, ceiling and floor included. Does anyone do this type of work? what do you charge for it?

Thanks!

--Mike

My employer sent me to a web design firm to discuss a new site. They offer virtual tours so I asked them how much they charge, knowing that I'm not going to buy because I can also do it... :)

I'm not even going to mention the number they gave me but it was crazy. I went out and bought a pano head right after that meeting! :)

I've done that & the free software you got with your Canon CD, PhotoStitch, did a good job.

On the Autostitch site, the only download "free' is a demo of the program, and only for PC, not Mac.
