I urgently need your help to buy a lens sometime ... I want to replace my current lens with a new one. But which would you buy instead of that one?

For that focal length, I prefer the zoom over the prime. And for that lens, I prefer the IS to the non, though your personal preference may differ. Of course, depending on the weather, you might want to opt for the weather sealed version. But since you didn't specify if this was to be on the crop body or the full frame, you'll have to make the final decision yourself.

I have a crop body at the moment but I used to have a FF. Does the Fun Filled extend the aperture of my existing lens and if so should I keep it? If not, is it really worth changing it? I am mainly interested in IQ. Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated :-)

Yes I explained I want a lens already ... and please don't call me baby as I hardly know you!

Do you plan on keeping only one lens? What's your budget? Do you plan on upgrading to the 1DsMKIII? Do you shoot many different things or only one thing? Do you want the lens to make you look cool? Will you use the lens on a tripod or only handheld? Do you need low light capability or will you only be shooting outdoors in bright sunlight on alternate Tuesdays? We really need more details to help you pick the best replacement lens.

Oh all right, if you're going to be like that, I'll suggest that this (external link) makes the perfect walkaround lens.

Very sensible Mark. Budget is flexible within reason ... I'm sure you understand ;-)a Usually I shoot just one thing. A cool lens would be cool as I am already cool myself. The lens will mainly be for indoor shooting but want it to work externally too. I prefer just one lens ... I don't treat them the same way you seem to treat you women with a new one on your arm every week pretty much (PS: you got any advice on that!?)

The Sigma 300-800mm f5.6 EX IF APO HSM is an ideal walk-around lens and should replace what you have quite nicely.

I don't find that quite wide enough at times and it's often hard to take that step or two backwards to get your perfect composition. That's why I still stand with my suggestion.

Hmm...so you're shooting the 24-70L and need to know what to replace it with. Well, I have the perfect answer for you: the 24-105L.

The 24-105L clearly beats the pants off the 24-70L, as shown in this poll.

Once you go with the 24-105L, you'll see the 24-70L for the piece of junk it is!

:-D

While I personally have never used that lens, I am sure it has Macro capability based on the suggested retail price.
