So I ordered the 1DmkIII from Adorama (Phone in)...usually order from B&H, but they were out. GET THIS......They shipped me a used one with 5200 actuations. Their customer service doesn't open til the morning...I'm so fricken PO'd right now I could literally strangle the rep. funny, after making it extra clear I couldn't have one with a serial # within the mirror recall group they decided to ship me one with a bad serial # with 5200 actuations with crappy packaging to boot...Sorry have to vent to someone....man, I've been waiting for this....man, sold both my 30D and 5d and will have to go without a body for a-n-o-t-h-e-r howeverlong:cry::cry::cry::mad::mad::mad::evil::evil::evil:
That's what I get from straying from B&H....Instant Karma

Geez, so sorry to hear about that. I've purchased several items from them, and never had any issues, perhaps other than they seem to have the Amazon-style shipping method of throwing your item in a oversized box with a scant amount of packing material.

I sure hope they remedy this for you quickly. If it were me, I would return the camera for a refund if they don't give you anything but white glove service in getting you a NEW replacement.

Please let us know how this works out. I hope to continue dealing with them, I almost picked up a Tenba Shootout backpack from them today.

Best,

Michael

did you use cancount or another program to verify the # of actuations or are you going of the file number of the pictures? did you use a CF card that was in another camera, perhaps one with 5200 clicks? still sucks that they didn't send you a blue dot body tho.

i am hearing more and more horror stories from the adoramas and B&H's of the world. I do not buy any expensive gear from them any more. I use another very reputable shop with prices that are close enough. I like having the peace of mind that when I buy something new it is actually new and I am the first user.

It's hard to beat Amazon and Costco. They are both so big you never have to worry about them pulling crap like this.

Costco is big yes. But, Amazon, not so much. A lot of times they are more like a store front for many smaller vendors. But, Amazon does back your purchase, so they are a good choice.

To the OP. Adorama is big, so I'd expect them to make this right. It could have just been a shipping mistake. Also, deadpass had some good ideas to check. But, the bad packaging isn't a good indication.
Best of luck. I wouldn't accept a used III without a significant discount.

I bought mine from Amazon. At Christmas time, if you buy after Nov 1, they allow returns until January 31, 2008. The two month trial operiod was worth it to me. And if you need to return it they pick it up and pay the shipping back. You may already know this but just in case you didn't. I had it in 24 hours direct from an amazon wharehouse for $31. UPS 1 day shipping. Good luck........

Hey thanks for all the responses. Well just got off the phone with them and in fact they said it was a mistake, emailing me a return label and I should have the replacement next week.
For the record, yes it was used, all packaging inside was ripped open and 5200+ shutter clicks...but they are gonna make it right. They are sending me one that is beyond the recall serial # deal and all should be well......But...patience is not my most prominant virtue

Strike that, just called them back, turns out they can't send the package back overnight on such a large return, it will take a week for them to recieve it, then about another 3 days to credit me, then they will charge me for another one:( They can't pick it up til Monday, so I'll be lucky if I get the replacement in 2 weeks (who knows if they'll even have it in stock, so close to Christmas.....grrr.
Did I say that I love B&H, I've purchased probably 30K worth of gear from them, not once....was there ever a problem....What do the kids say??? My bad
