Hey guys, I started photography about a month ago and I'm lovin it! I got this lens in the mail yesterday and I took a few shots today, I haven't done any focus tests yet but I will since I've been hearing a lot of AF issues on this. Anyways here they are! C&C please! (anything to help me improve my pictures would help a lot, btw I think photobucket brought down the IQ a LOT)

I shot all these in Manual in Spot Meter. For the wide shots, should I have used center-weight meter instead? BTW, these were all hand held.

I just got my 24-70L an hour ago & I am just about to go out & test it.

I bought it through B&H & saved $500 Aussie because of the exchange rate.I think I will use the money to get an 85 f 1.8.

Shipping was fast & I ordered it last Sunday & recieved it at 2pm today(friday).
Great to be able to track it with the fed ex tracking system.

You'll want to expose these brighter, and that will make a signficant improvement
in image quality. Try shooting in manual mode for a while and just look at the
histogram to judge exposure. The metering is easily thrown off.

Besides a lot of them being underexposed, they look nice. I think you'll really enjoy this lens once you familiarize yourself with photography a bit more.

Do a search for the book, Understanding Exposure..... It's a great read and fairly cheap, $20ish.

Brighter by lowering the ISO? Or playing with the shutter/aperture? I bought the Understanding Exposure book a week ago and I've just finished a day ago. I shot all these in Manual mode, should I change the metering from spot to partial maybe?

Congrats, they do seem a bit underexposed.. try playing around with the shutter speed first, before pumping up the ISO.

pick the metering your most comfortable with but get the bar in the camera over to the right of center a bit by adjusting your shutter and/or aperture in M so your on the positive side of the meter. in Av or Tv simply dial in some exposure compensation. bumping ISO is the last resort for me.

Beside being underexposed, some of the missed the focus. Pic number 2 is a good example of that. I wish i had a lens like that but my first option on Canon L lenses is going to be the 70-400 F/4 L IS :)
