Originally posted this in the Nature forum by mistake. Sorry!

Walked into work yesterday morning and this was the sunrise. All the pictures were taken off the back deck of my work. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

All with the 17-40 f4 L with f/16.

You might want to convert those to smart images as they are forever keepers.

I will CC. The dock is just way too dark to include in the picture. I know you were trying to give some foreground interest or create a leading line, but it doesn't do it for me. The colors are great, yes. But no detail in the included dock makes it just a black patch. Maybe try a flash next time?

Great work otherwise though.

I totally agree with you. And yes, I was trying to create a little forground intrest. Although I don't think my on-camera flash will reach that far. The dock is a good 1.5 floors below and 40 yards from where I was standing. Would a shoe flash like the 430ex produce better results?

nice shots and great colors. I think the dock kind of draws attention away from the mountains. In the second shot try cropping out a quarter of the bottom, from the the bottom of the dock down that way it is still in the shot (like you want I guess) but so it isn't as overpoweringly pressent

Here is the cropped version without the black mass that was the dock. Although I do miss the open expanse of water in front of the mountains. I am also working on a good crop for the second image.

I liked the dock. Really guess I'm too much in awe to critique. These are gorgeous.
