Really? I just got done reading some reviews and most of them point to the Tammy. Any particular reasons why you prefer the Sigma?

Sigma has my first initial .... Sigma ... Sean

it was a perfect match

hahaha

no, a lot of the board members suggested sigma as a good walk around first lens to buy .... so i went ahead

the images it produced for me have been nothing but phenomenal ... but i agree, at times its a little slow on the focusing

Yea, that's the part that I am worried about. I don't want the lens to do a lot of focus hunting at the clubs. Is the Tammy any better at this?

Hi Chris,

Love your work! Were these pics taken with a multi strobe setup? If so, what was your setup? What lens did you use? 17-40L I'm guessing.

Thanks!

looks like he uses on camera flash for fill and the one strobe in his left hand is the main. probably at a 2:1 or 3:1 ettl ratio.

right on the money basically... i use ettl and i underexpose the on camera 2/3

and the lens is a 17-35 2.8L

Edit: im happy to report ill be picking up a 5d tomorrow!! FINALLY im so pumped. i may or may not use it in clubs much tho.

picking up a 70-200 2.8 IS L as well next weekish. as soon as funds roll in as expected.

damn im pretty good at guessing the light. :) You will love the 5d, however the flash metering will bother you at first, its quite different than my 40d was and alot different from the 1d.

and oh yeah i use the 16-35 on my 5d for all my club pics now. careful on the wide end. lol it gets wacky/
