BTW, thanks for the tip about the Pocket Bouncer. I'll check it out.

I was going through some of Tone's photos (I love his style) and he uses a two light setup. I believe he uses a Westcott Apollo softbox attached to a speedlite to either side as his main. He also gets in real close with a wide angle lens:

not too bad for a first timer, you got the skill of framing while shooting pat down ...

keep reading the tips in the thread ... perhaps slowing your shutter speed down

here are a few from my first night guys don't tear me up too bad. any advice regarding no one wanting to have their photo taken? i was amazed at the number of people who told me no. i was nervous i guess but friendly. I tried to get just the basic shots the site is looking for. hopefully in time i will be able to play around and find my own style. thanks guys!

As far as people saying 'no' to you taking their photos, it's going to happen often. You have to realize that sometimes when people go out to clubs, maybe their hair/outfit is not right. Maybe they have a cold and feel that it will show on the photo. Maybe they have acne. Maybe they are going through some bad problems and are not in the mood for taking photos.

One big thing too is that sometimes people are in clubs with people they are not supposed to be with. It can be a number of things. What I do is when someone says 'no' I move on. After all, there are more people who want their photo taken

pretty good ... you gotta work on your framing and in-view-cropping ...

like the last two ... you got the faces probably dead center of your viewfinder, perhaps get your focus, and shift the camera down so that you eliminate some more head space and get more of their bodies
