Set your flash to 2nd curtain and lower the shutter speed a bit;)

*Don't* use 2nd curtain sync. It will mess up your timing.

Gorgeous Bokeh on that last one

Good use of shallow DoF though. Pity it's front focussed.

What equipment were you using for this shot? and what settings?

50/1.4 I'd guess.

I have used 2nd curtain with no problems. I do not use it all of the time though;)

well and also yap, yes more body space could've been captured. What do women typically find least appealing to them and guys lets not lie, but a thick lower half. maybe its newbie nonsense but another thing that kinda caught me off was so many people wanted to see the photo after i took it in a very small cramped club. i gave them cards but they insisted on pulling on me. i have a lot to learn. also, i was shooting on camera with a 430 and an index card. i know...listen twice i've read through this monster thread but anything that might be good advice in finding my own style and well just the concept would be great. lumiquest pocket? 580 so i can slave the 430? stofen? fong? i've read through this thing and i guess what i've found is "to each his own" which i understand but i just dont have the money to randomly rent and/or buy stuff to see if i like it. i know blah blah blah but i dont know how else to put it. thanks you legends of the nightlife thread!

thats true, a lot of plus sized girls are self concious ... but if you look at everyones photos, its well cropped ...

on thing you should keep in mind is that girls get dressed up to show off ... so sometimes its good to get their outfits and such.

a lot of us here probably have heard to rule of thirds

They were made popular when Kanye West wore them on his "Stronger" video.

srika,
That first shot (the purple silouette of the two girls) is one of the best and most iconic shots I've seen here. You could easily sell this to a stock photo agency, I would think. There is just enough of the DJ image showing so that it's clear where they are to give it relavence, and the color and mood are just perfect. There is even enough dead (open) space in the image to allow for type to be added, for a magazine cover or other graphic use. Very well done. The last one (orange tones) is also quite good.
