Backpack looks pretty cool though ;)
have any of you seen the DEVIANT art backpack?

Objective: Heard shady things about the build quality, top loading for a sling bag generally equals bad ergonomics, and also anything that is bigger than a drebel would be a tight fit.
Subjective: Personally it doesn't have enough room

That's a rebel XS in there...

and that's a rebel xti (xti bigger than xs) is on the right here...and the 30D on the right is smaller than the 7D...pretty sure than a lot of nikon's also

That messiner bag is rather nice - doesn't look like a camera bag at all and very easy to get at your stuff.

I'm using the lowpro slingshot 200 (external link). Once I've taken my stuff out of the bag the only thing left in it are spare business cards and spare batteries.

My pockets are pretty slim:
Bank card
ID
phone
keys
business cards (back left pocket)
maybe £10 for a couple drinks

True...but this bag is mainly for Nightlife...Really dont need the extra pockets and space. I dont even think RUKES brings that much equipment when shooting nightlife lol
Maybe 1 main cam, possibly a 2nd SLR, couple lens's and POSSIBLY a flash (Dont believe he really uses flash)
I dont think most of the guys/girls here carry more than 2 len's lol
I'd rather keep it slim then bulky. And im trying to keep my bag on me at all times now, rather than risk it up on the dj booth.
(have had to many peeps move my bag, go threw it to see who's it is, dropped by accident)

Ya, i thought it looked pretty clean, and simple. Theres another one that i think is made out of hemp material or what not, basically the same thing, holds 3 len's but its about 50-60$ more lol. I'd rather keep my money =p

Ahh yes...i forgot about my keys too haha
I think theres another slingshot lowpro bag that i was looking at. Was debating on getting that one instead, but again it was 80$ and i'd rather not invest too much into a nightlife bag lol I have another one for real photo shoots that works quite well

I have the regular (Non-VC) Tamron 17-50 and after 6 months or so, had to send it out to be repaired. Having front focusing issues with it. It is now over at Tamron getting fixed. Hopefully you can get a good copy;)

I've read that as a common occurrence, were you happy with it other wise? was it sharp?

I was very happy with that lens and yes, it is very sharp. It's built really well too;)

Fits (for me):

50D body
16-35 L lens (attached)
580 and ST-E2 in a little Crown Royal satchel
Blackbook
iPad
charger
cables and crap

I can move stuff around and put a 70-200 tele in there too.

I don't bring my laptop or the iPad to gigs, so that frees up some space for shoots. I usually never need my laptop on-site. If you want it that dang fast, there's a big surcharge in my book for it.

The bag itself is bulky, so when I go out (you POTN nightlife regulars are sick of hearing this) I bring 1 lens, body, grip and flash/ST, and then stow the bag in a safe spot, so even if it gets nicked they're only getting the bag, some AA batteries, some USB cables, a box of Lifestyles, and some miscellaneous debris.

Sounds sleazy, but I learned from experience for that one. Though the downside is airport security when they search my bag. The CATSA (Canadian TSA) guys and girls had a laugh when they searched my bag last week.

I have that bag in gray, it comes in like five or six different colors. I picked it up locally for $125. I needed something in a hurry and it worked out!

It works great for festivals too. You can keep all your stuff handy, and in fests there's a lot more room, so you're not thwacking people with your bag when you turn around.

Pod: I was just poking fun, it was just a new thing to me in a camera bag (especially after watching a video "how to shoot models" [of one sort or another] and one thing the instructor made a point of saying was "Do NOT hit on a model, under any circumstance..."). But kudos (now I want some in my bag just for kicks and giggles LOL)
The flipside wouldn't be a good nightlife bag would it?
I do have a shoulder bag though, it'll do!
I too would like to know more "how to" shoot nightlife. I have an event coming up that I will be shooting more of a "dinner party" but lighting will be about the same I believe. Any suggestions?
I think I may get to the party early, check out the surroundings and write down what works for where. (ie apperture/iso/s.s. in room a,b,&c) or does that cause too much confusion? I do *not* want to rely on flash for this, in no way shape form or fashion!
