Ive just read this whole thread, its like the bible!

Ive been shooting clubs in Glasgow, Scotland for about 1 year now. I started off working for tilllate, became the Scottish Regional Manager, and got fed up of managing, training, recruiting doing 3/4 events a week for £60ish a month!

My next move is to purchase a 580 EXII flash and go for a two flash setup. I am also thinking of going for either a Tamron 17-50 or going all out and getting a Canon 16-35.

---------

Edit: I have just seen that I have just started page 666 - can't be good!

Good for you for breaking away from the European version of the US run-and-gun websites I (and the rest of us) love to hate. You get paid £60/month while the wankers who run the site party it up in Miami every Winter Music Conference. Sounds fair. (sarcasm). If they ever bring their noise to the US, I have no problem adding them to my ever-growing "s--tlist". Fight the good fight, tell all your friends, and maybe one day these clowns will either pay what we're worth, or have to go and do something useful with their lives.

Save your pounds for the 16-35. It's one of those "ouch" purchases at first, but you'll get a lifetime of enjoyment out of the lens.

And yeah, page 666 (evil laugh).

Now I am going it alone, and making a lot more money!

I'm here to sort out my skills though!

My current setup is a 40d with a 10-20 Sigma and Canon 28-135 with a 430 EXII with a lumiquest quick bounce. I have been experimenting with off camera flash on a TTL cable, but have not been happy with the results.

Edit: I have just seen that I have just started page 666 - can't be good!

Good stuff, I went for the interviews for Tilllate and got a start date etc, but I decided not to after reading stuff on this thread. I'm into something at the moment where i'm trying to sort my own work, touch wood it works. Good luck with your own venture too :D

LOL @ 666:evil:

When you (and others) are using a Stofen are you using ETTL and directing the flash right at the subject? Or are you setting the flash manually? If so, what power (and flash)?

On every shot, i shoot MANUAL. I never really liked shooting in ITTL or ttl, it was far to bright, and the re-load time for my flash to "be ready" far far longer than what i want. WHenever i use the gary fong, cloud diffuser though i have to use TTL cause it needs a "BRIGHT" flash. Anyhow settings were as followed =]

1st.32 +7 with a 45 degree angle
2nd. about 16 +7
3rd.32+3
4th.32+7
5th.16 +3
6th.32 +7
7th 32 +3
8th 32 -2
