Gatecrasher isnt how it was, its now not the big trance night of yesteryear but have moved into more commercial stuff.

The old republic in sheffield burned down a few years ago, they have a big club in birmingham but also a few minor ones around the uk.

Sadly alot of the big trance nights are no more, slinky isnt as big as it was, GC is as stated and after turnmills shut down alot of the regulars dont go to the gallery as much. Luckily 'the gallery' is still living on and ive been lucky to shoot some cracking nights for them.

Regarding gatecrasher and photography Paul underhill whos very respected in the industry here cut his teeth with them in their hayday.

That describes most dance clubs around the world actually. Replace commercial for house or techno in some cases and that's about it.

Well Gatecrasher went odd, before it burned down the trance night became a monthly night and they turned it into an almost rnb venue. The main club now predominantly is house, but gone are the gatecrasher days its all about glammed up girls and smartly dressed guys, then another new thing they are pushing is called supersonic vauge and its kind of more eclectic compaired to the normal djs, but has stuff like that black eyed peas dude, zane lowe etc...

For me clubbing isnt about that, infact if you ever catch me in a shirt at a club its because ive been dragged out kicking and screaming for a birthday or something. Thankfully even though many dont like ministry and their global identiy they dont have stupid dress codes banning trainers, making you wear a collar etc....

The clubbing scene isnt what it used to be and im just 24, but I know alot about the past, im gutted I never got to venture over to twilo and the big mirror ball before that was killed off, missed the hacienda, the golden days of trade at turnmills etc... Im sure id be making more money back then aswell as there wasnt every man and his dog working for free for certain websites.

Dubstep's growing in the UK, there are a few nights in Leeds though mostly still in dives or semi-dives. Also our gatecrasher isn't the best, but atleast the RnB phase has passed :)
