just saw some of Spybar's pics, they did let the house photog (matt darkroomdemons) take some shots of Sasha - even personal ones, there's one of him sitting on a couch.

Well these were in a nightclub (even if it wasnt a club night lol)

Probably more exciting for most people than the normal DJs im shooting week in week out.

Some random other lot, had to play with the red curve alot as the red was way to strong for my liking.. Tip for anyone with AF assist points on their body - TURN THEM OFF for live bands.. Its wrecked alot of my shots where it was obsessed with the mic/random logos on tshirts etc...

Also playing about with different method of sizing for the web to see if can stop Fing up my work

Thanks for posting these. Did you have any specific issues with the lens that you found?

Ive currently got a 40d, a 17-85, sigma 10-20 and a sigma 24-70 hsm still sealed in the box (replacement for a broken macro version which I used on a 1d2). I need to consolidate my gear. I could keep my 40d, add a tamron 17-50 2.8 and sell the 17-85 and 24-70, then add a fast prime like the 24L, or a sigma 20 or 24 1.8 if theyre useable for club work. I'm edging towards this idea.

The other option is to keep the 24-70 and buy a used 5d2. sell the 17-85, 40d and 10-20, and just run with that.

I think both options work out roughly the same cost wise. I'm mindful that bodies aren't a good investment in terms of resale, whereas I can sell on a lens or used L at minimal loss, so the 5d2 would need to deliver some sort of quantum leap in ISO over the 40d. I'm thinking a fast wide prime on the 40d might be the way forward, in the sense that none of my competitors run anything faster than 2.8/40d at the moment. Raw size isnt a concern, I publish at web size only, and I only use my gear for clubwork.

I would appreciate everyone's ideas on this.

I just saw those shots as well, I was their for that Dino had to practically plead for Sasha to take those shots. After all the crap that happened that night I thought it would be best just to pack my stuff up and leave. Plus Matt has just as much of a reputation with managers and tour mangers as srika does, so I'm not surprised he got those shots......Must be nice.

some crazy shots in this thread! Need some advice, I'll be shooting some DJ's in the fall and was already thinking about getting the 17-40 for my 5D. Will this work out fine? I know i'll have to use flash because of the f/4. Anyone have any experience with this combo?
Thanks guys

Save your bucks and get the 16-35 (I or II) instead. Faster, a bit more robust, and a tiny bit wider.
