I'm really sorry for posting a question that I'm sure has been asked before, but I had trouble finding what I was looking for in the faq and archives, and well, a search for "wide angle lens" turns up a haystack.

My dilemma is this:

I've been using a Tamron 19-35 and was quite happy with it for my limited needs until winter hit and now all of my family shoots are moving indoors and I've been using it a lot. The IQ just isn't there for it to be a main shooting lens, so I'm in search of a better WA zoom.

I use a mark II, so I need a Canon EF, Sigma DG, or whatever equivalent. I'd like to keep it under $500, and don't mind buying used, but wondered if anyone can recommend anything?? Is there any such lens?

If you're sick to death of these types of questions, please feel free to mosey on by this thread, but thanks so much for any help!

Do you mean a 1DMark II? If so you need an ultrawide for a full frame. Most are over $500 but some to consider are a Tamron 17-35 and you may be able to find a sigma 17-35 for under $500. Maybe a used Canon 17-40mm as well. Sigma also makes a 15-30mm zoom but that is not very popular for some reason.

The only lens I might recommend would be the 17-40 which will run about $630.00, a little over where you wanted. I don't know anything about the Mark II though.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 100-400IS L, 24-105 L[COLOR=black][FONT=&quot] IS, 50mm f/1.4, Canon 430EX/580EX II, Kenko 1.5X, Epson R1900, Manfrotto 679B Monopod, 3021BPRO tripod, 808RC4 Head, 486RC2 Ballhead

thanks to both of you for the recommendations. I was looking at the 17-40, so after hearing from the two of you on it, I will probably go with it. Thanks very much!

Yup if price is a concern, look at the sell forum here. You may find a nice one for a bit less than new.
