My humble apologies! Powershot G2 is (obviously) not a DSLR. My camera of choice is a 30D, but I wasn't carrying it on this day. I retract my previous.

Talk about a hard competition to judge----all entrants were just fantastic, and proved to be just what I was after. With much thought going in, my decisions are:

1st place: BASmith's Pool Hustler. This is a timeless candid shot and one that shows grit, determination and just plain cool. The gentleman's look perfectly matches his hard-edged surroundings. His left eye is just incredible, adding so much power to the shot. I absolutely love the composition on this, and the B&W conversion, too. Congratulations, BASmith!!

2nd Place---Airfrogusmc's pic of the girl with the eyes. This has so much going on, it is just fun to look at. The spectators run the gamut, from "ho hum, I see this everday" suave, to "is that really what I'm seeing" disbelief. What really makes this shot is the girl's eyes looking right at the camera----just great timing.

3rd Place---EastCoastSponger's Patiently Waiting. This shot is another with wonderful composition and feeling. The man is deep in thought, waiting for the perfect time to get into the water. You can feel the temperature in this image.

Congratutions to BASmith for the win----you are up!

Congrats to Airfrogusmc and EastCoastSponger, too. And thanks for all who contributed their images----it was a tough one to judge, let me assure you!

Holy moly.

I'm seriously shocked here, and congrats to all that posted their shots also.

Let me think for a couple hours and I will make a new thread for Speed Challenge #34
