Hey guys. I am waiting for my new XT in the mail as we speak. Should be here in the next day or two. However I probably wont be "allowed" to play with it til christmas lol.

I was asked a while back to build a website for our company. I know computers very well but very little about websites. So I thought the first thing to learn would be photoshop so I could create some custom stuff for the site. So I got a brand new copy of CS3 paid for by the company :D. In the process of doing a couple hundred tutorials I started to really enjoy "playing" with pictures. Then I started to get interested in getting a good camera instead of my P&S. So I researched it for a while and was wanting an XTi. Then when family/girlfriend asked what I wanted for christmas a new camera was at the top of the list. But a new XTi was pretty much out of anyones prices range. So I looked into an XT which was still out of the range. Then I got lucky and found a brand new XT kit for $420. I'm sure you know but these are selling for $600 on sale at the stores. So I ordered it up (ya I get to pick out my own presents :D) So my wonderful girlfriend and my parents are getting it together :) I'm pretty excited to get started with it but per "the rules" I dont get to use it til christmas lol

So that brought me here to try to learn something about the camera before it gets here so I might atleast know a little about it. So far I'm learning a lot!

Welcome to POTN. You'll learn a ton here as have I.

I'm sure there will be a user or two that won't like your username but this site caters to many age groups, countries and levells of X. Enjoy!

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

If its a problem a mod can contact me and I have no problem changing it. I just use this same name on many boards so I used the same one.

Thanks for the hello!

What’s wrong with a forehead? Everybody has one. :)

Welcome to the forum.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Only Administrators can change usernames, so I suggest you contact CyberDyneSystems or Pekka, and ask for a name change. Regardless of whether you've used that nave elesewhere or not, it doesn't play well here.

I wasnt using that as an excuse. I was just stating thats why I used it. Because I have the same name everywhere. Its no problem to change it though. I'll contact them.

Thanks. There are a number of us who have cardiac conditions....you're dealing with a slightly different demographic than you might be accustomed to. We also have a large number of very nice women and a few kids who hang out here, and we try to remain mindful of that as much as possible.

No problem ;)
I'm more worried about learning some stuff about this camera than my name :)
I really need it to play around with to really start understanding some of this stuff I'm reading about here.

Sr. Head... I would have purchased Adobe Illustrator and Dreamweaver first for designing web components. Better yet, have the company invest in the Web suite from Adobe that includes Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and InDesign. Good tax write-off to squeeze in before the end of the year.

And enjoy the new XT!

Ya that probably would have been better. But I was actually redoing a site the ISP had already done for us. It had its own program for rebuilding the site. So I didnt have to do any HTML or anything. It was all upload and rearrange. I actually finished that this summer. I've been playing with PS every since. And now I'll have some good pics to play with instead of the Sony P&S pics 8)
Hell after I get this camera I may redo the site again just for an excuse to use the camera
