I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

You should go manual or aperature priority. I shoot only manual, RAW, neutral. Canon EOS 40D || 10-22mm EF-S || 24-70mm f/2.8L ||70-200mm f/2.8L IS || 50mm f/1.8 II || 60mm f/2.8 Macro EF-S

You must have a small aperture lens or very low light or both. What is it you are testing on? Conditions?

Alex - What lens are you using? Make sure the batteries are fully charged. Place the camera in Av mode. Set the aperature to f5.6 and see if you can get a shot. Did you remember to put a CF card in? If Mirror lockup is on you press the shutter once to raise the mirror and a second time to actually take the picture. If you don't press the shutter that second time, the mirror will return after about 20 sec. Jon

It must be on because after pressing the shutter a second time it did take the picture and I can see it on the display. The problem is that when I look at my menu under "mirror lockup" and click it a message comes on "cannot register more items, delete an item and then register" so I can't see if it's on or not and if it is on I can't change it to off. If I delete an item can I get it back or is it then gone from the camera? Canon 40D 580EX ll Flash
