Haha, that's all I hear about NZ at the moment.. The crap weather. Quite mild here ;)

 That's funny, how?
Weather often goes in swings and round-a-bouts.
I don't think you'll be laughing when the real weather in England rares her ugly head.

It's the far North that had isolated pockets of terrible weather.
And driving in it is far from funny. My car was loaded to the hilt and Visibility was zero.

Weather is weather.

You can't change it, just move your location to avoid it.. Meanwhile London has been overcast for 3 weeks straight. The last clear days, was when I took those frozen shots on 16th November. Just been a dreary grey all the time, with some rain thrown in. So really sounds the same as Auckland, but Auckland's about 10-15*C warmer

Humph, who would've thought... I've just recovered a CF card from the bottom of the washing machine after a cold cycle and it works.

I am not surprised by that. In fact I would expect it to work fine.

I did some gardening, caught some rays, erected our cross trainer. Boring.

I shouldn't think so. during the time of the washing it wasn't plugged in to anything and no current wasn't going thru it. why would it damage it.

just make sure that it's dry before using.

a day in the airing cupboard works

also, my dad (electronics engineer) sometimes puts stuff thru the wash (like his phone) and so he takes it apart and pours methanol over the electronics to remove the water/prevent corrosion, then dries it in the airing cupboard

of course, important not to put any current through it while its still wet

of course the easiest thing to do is not leave it in pockets in the first place.

Transcend 256 mb. Not one I use in the camera. Thought being submersed and knocked around would've done something to it, given all the stuff you hear about dropping CF cards giving them enough of a shock to lose data. Spin cycle would be high G, but smoothly applied, so minimal effect I guess.
