Well you could ask Tim, but my guess is he used the Strobe function on the 580 EX

So a long exposure, with the flash sending out pulses of light?? or something like that.

Wow.. Congratulations. Some great gear there. I am going to get the 24-70 sometime soon too!

You won't be able to concentrate as you will only be thinking of your new gear.

Thanks Peter and welcome back, how was Austria? You going to post us some photos to cool us down, its so hot here! Did you have a lovely white Christmas?

I wont be able to concentrate on anything until I get some good shots under my belt with this new gear . Ive been planning it so long that I cant believe Ive actually got it! Ive just reorganised my camera bag, TG for Lowepro, there is just enough space.

I don't think it's a single exposure for like a second as one or two have said, as the hand would be a smooth blur not in steps. It looks like several high fps shots put together as someone else stated.

Cheers, Dave.

Evening all, nice shot Duncan, good to have our "back-up photographer" in position to report any incidents (to the Authorities, not here!!!).

Im a little bit sore but feeling good after a shower.

I have downloaded my shots but have only processed 1. But I realised that I forgot to get anything decent from the viewing platform (too busy doing sherpa duties).

This shot is from about 3/4 of the way up to the viewing platform. First image posted at new sizes. Hopefully some of the detail shows up. The textures & colours of the rocks is fantasitic.
