Mark, whilst shopping for your extra flashes, have you found that the (presumably) millions of really old flashes, some of which are really powerful, to be useless purchases? I seem to remember many older flashes having one power output or at most two, and you then adjusting the exposure in-camera via changing the aperture?

Or have you just picked anything up and plan on controlling your lighting via either aperture or by moving the flashes closer or further away from the subject?

I have a week to fill in between Easter, in Gore (school reunion, no jokes, heard them all) and the start of the Secondary Schools rowing regatta at Lake Ruataniwha (Twizel).

At this stage Im hoping for a weekend. Moneys tight this year (ok Im been tight with money this yr)

Well, I hope you feel better for it. Be interesting in reading the comments that will enevitably follow. There is a certain amount of "oh, that looks cool, I might try that" but the only place I look at photo's &/or for information is here, so I do see a lot of it. That said, this is just a little slice of a corner of the internet, so there's still plenty out there to see.

i have nothing planned as i will be in wanaka over easter - but if you want to spend a few days here in chch - hotel shrimper is alway open and i am sure i could find one or two places for you too shoot...
