I seem to remember many older flashes having one power output or at most two, and you then adjusting the exposure in-camera via changing the aperture? Or have you just picked anything up and plan on controlling your lighting via either aperture or by moving the flashes closer or further away from the subject? There is a certain amount of "oh, that looks cool, I might try that" but the only place I look at photo's &/or for information is here, so I do see a lot of it. That said, this is just a little slice of a corner of the internet, so there's still plenty out there to see.
