No good, the weight of the larger ones tends to rip pockets ;)

LOL

Still think buying the 120-300 for US$2099 was my best decision.

The flexibility, lower price and overall quality is good for that price.

I can't keep buying primes and travel.
Once I settle down somewhere, I'm definitely buying something longer. Would like a Sigma 300-800 or a 500 f4 (600 bit too much I think)
And also the other primes, 85 1.2L, 50 1.2L, 35 1.4L, 14 2.8L
Buy a new L each year, and I won't go bankrupt

--
And weight? hah, I had 7 lens once.
Now down to a nice 4, but sometimes with I had a 70-200 instead of the 120-300. Would be lighter and be closer to the 7kg I'm allowed to carry on jets

When I went to the states just a few weeks ago I took my 20D w/grip 18-55 (kit lens) 70-200 F2.8L 580EXII and when I was up there bought the 17-40 F4L and that weighed in at 6.8kg's but they never asked to weigh my bag so I can't see the problem with being over the limit.

I could be going to Singapore in March so there could be another opportunity for some more gear, then I'll definitely be over :D

Yeah I routinely carry my camera, 5 lenses and a laptop in a carryon that weighs around 11-12 kg. Sometimes the airline people will question it but once you explain its value (exaggerate a little) its never a problem. Ain't no way I am checking in $8K or stuff!

Well I just dropped our 17-55 back to Photo Warehouse to send into Canon.. we shall see how long it takes to come back. The guy reckoned its a 3 week turnaround at the moment... good thing we're away for 2 of those weeks... Our new lens arrived this morning too so we wont be at loss for our trip :)

We're splitting our camera gear up over two carry on bags when we fly tonight.... Taking the majority of our lenses etc with us :) Full insured with travel insurance up to 10K in value :D If you carry the bag on your back or pick it up in front of them they generally won't question its weight...
Coming back from the UK one of our bags weighed about 11kgs according to the home scales.. lol

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.

Great photo Peter! I like it! :D

Heard back from Auckland Camera re my queries on 17-55mm IS & the 70-200mm 2.8 none IS. Unfortunately they can't beat what Graham @ progear is offering me. AC is offering me :P 17-55 $1,620.00 and 70-200mm 2.8 none IS $2,099 and will give me a trade in of $200 for my 17-85mm IS if I decide to trade it in.

Graham @ progear is giving me the 17-55mm IS for $1,495 with a $550 trade in for my 18-55mm IS and the 70-200mm 2.8 none IS for $1,825.

Gonna go see him tomorrow after work, I think I'll get the 17-55mm IS for now and get that out of the way.

Woops... edit :P was typing very fast!

AC does not sure about Pro gear. Yes 3 months intrest free then 24% intrest
My avaiable credit with q-card is $14K at the moment. Imaginge how much intrest you would be paying on that amount.
Thats a 1DSmk3 and 35 F1.4 L or 600mmF4 L
