as I had to put it back on the shelf, this was due to the fact that we are now expecting our third baby...

Hate to say it, but take that quote to harvey norman and see what they can do on longer interest free terms for you maybe... Just a thought

Yeah, ask Aaron (Momentz) about the deal he got from Harvey Norman price matching on the 17-55 f2.8IS he picked up today......

Ummmm Auckland Camera have the 17-55 advertised for $1419 on their website so I would question their quote

http://www.aucklandcamera.com/product.php?id=13526 (external link)

I know, but Auckland camera was only willing to give me $200 as a trade in for my 17-85mm... I paid $850 for the 17-85 last november and gonna be losing out $300 already (graham giving me $550 as a trade in). Not the sharpest, but certainly capable. Come to think of it, might just settle with my 17-85mm and go for the 70-200mm F/2.8 none IS. This will complete my gear bag for now anyways. Can always try & get a cheaper 2nd hand 17-55mm in the future if am still really hung up with my 17-85. Graham did say to come in and discuss the 70-200 as he might be able to get a "finer" price for me as they curently have canon specials at the mo.

BTW, congrats NZShrimper!

I guess its a question of how you want to pay for it... If you want interest free then Progear is not for you :) Unless you tell him that Harvey norman can do 18 months interest free at this price and see what he says.. perhaps he will join the war.

Graham quite often just buys older lenses though rather than trading with them.... What could you get for it if you sold it yourself?

I might get $600 - $650 if am lucky. To many floating around in TM @ the moment.

Well, I have most of the money already, but proly end up using my Visa instead of the Qcard just to get my cash back points. Wont take me a month to be able to fully pay it off (17-55 $1495 - $550 trade in = $945 to pay off).

on the other hand 70-200 will take me around 3 months to pay off.

 wish I was rich, then I wouldn't have this dilema, I could just buy it all!
