You have way to much that overlaps. Sell what I say and get the 70-200F2.8 NON IS and a 1.4 TC

Oh this is based on your 5D wish.If you plan to stay with 1.6 crop swap the 24-105 for the 17-55F2.8 IS

hi welcome back ;-)a

you want me to sell the bigma? LOL that lens dies with me...
this is too cold-turkey for me, you know i cant just get rid of gear like that

really the only thing i would give back is the 24-105 and only because it would get me the 70-200 2.8 IS (need IS for indoor shooting, remember a lot of this gear is for weddings)

would it be horribly cheeky to email glam and ask him? lol

Just another reason to hold yourself back.....
I will make no further comment on the subject.

ah i see what you are getting at
remember i did most of my weddings with the cheapest gear out there... but yeah lenses etc isnt the main reason why i havent made the jump yet - i think the main-est one is "chicken"

maybe i need to address that and stop p*ssing around...

Top stuff!

Meanwhile - I was messing with Midnight Sepia action for these.
Work wanted to pay me for my time  (I said no).. I'm sure you lads are comfortable enough in your own masculinity to not be offended by fruits in frocks ;)

Did you ever stop and think why I sold the bigma and got a 300F2.8

Sure its handy 50-500 1 lens the image quality is crap. Cant use in low light unless on a tripod. Has variable stops rather than a consistant setting. Cant take TC's as it degrades even further. Sure I miss it like hell but compare the IQ of the bigma at 500 with the 300 and 2xTC and you will see why I sold it
You are a wedding photographer? Well if you are then post a new topic in the wedding section and ask what the pros use.

Give up your crap glass, get some good glass make some money then if you want to buy a bigma again then you can.

Thanks SS, and thanks for the loan-age too! Much appreciated :D
I was considering a yes to payment, but I did sleep in till 9am (I start at 8:30) on Friday, and was still in my PJ's at my desk when my bosses called (and admitted it), and asked me to meet them for Breakfast.
I told them my tardiness, after a 4am bender, was payment enough.
Boy, they got a cheap deal
D'oh!

yeah i posted that question a long time back, everyone said 17-55 and 70-200, both f/2.8 IS

which makes it more stupid i guess that i didnt buy the second one... it was all about price at the time and thinking i was at my credit limit

maybe i should just start marketing my work properly and pay off all this stuff and buy the 70-200 for cash, i could probably make a lot more than i have been bothering to up until now

then i can decide what im actually using and not, and offload some dead weight - when ive had time to come to terms with it emotionally LOL

well i think you have answered the question yourself.
remember the bigma is only a piece of gear ... earning money now thats a better return. and as tony said you could always buy one again....

Hey Im in the same boat. People have been saying print and sell your landscapes for quite sometime.

Have spent the last 3/4 days just thinking about my photography. Printed out 2 A3+ sized super bike photos and they look great.

How else am I going to be able to get my 600F4 and 1Dsmk3 if I dont sell what I already have. (Thats $23,000 worth of gear)

If Im not mistaken Lance's 1dmk3 was paid for by print sales. Sure I could goto AC now and get one on credit, sell my Mk2 and pay it off the balance but where would I be in 6 months..........in the same boat.

WE ARE AFFRAID. Maybe we should spend more time listening to others rather than talking.

I'm in full agreement with Tony, everything he's said makes good sense.

Remember the primary reason you have the 24-105 tho, is a backup for the 17-55. If you're in the middle of a wedding and the 17-55 dies, you're completely rooted without backup.

If ours dies, the backup is the 50, which could be a royal pain in the proverbial. There's always the 18-55, but you can't do anything creative with it as you're stuck at f8 to ensure you get maximum sharpness out of it.

Does anyone else think that it's a joke that our national paper's main story of the day (at least it was on the web site) is devoted to a soap opera plot?

When did our IQs get so low? I can't really see how that's 'news'.

I have noticed this the other day on TV3 news. Were the most important things that happened that day were

a bomb blast over seas somewhere
aussie signing up to the Kyoto protocol

and the top news item for NZ was some strong winds where the only damage was a roof getting blown of some building.

yea NZ really doesn't have a lot of important things happing.

ohh well

ohh that would be nice. I would love to have something printed at A3. :) I was sure that the next printer I was going to buy would be A3, then I saw the price and the space it would take up and then said no :(

is the quality good enough to use as selling.

Ive had my canon 9950i for a year yet never print anything cause they are never good enough in my mind. Feck they will never be good enough but that shouldnt stop me printing and selling them to those that believe they are good enough and willing to pay.

yeah - that last sentence is the bottom line really i suppose

i have enough cheek to ask graham if i can do a swap 24-105 for 70-200 and finance the balance onto my deal - providing they haven't sent the papers back yet - which i hope they haven't as they are waiting on my bank account number LOL

will ask him and see what he says. after all, he can only say no too late and then i will know.

I think people want to have their cake and eat it too.

For lesser mortals such as ourselves we're really having to think long and hard about needs vs wants.

Our next dilema is which of the following do we buy, purely focussed on weddings:
24-105 (backup to the 17 - 55)
10-22 (allows creativity, and diffentiates our shots from many others, also good for aaron's motor vehicle shots)
70-200 2.8IS (higher keeper rate than the sigma, important in a pressure situation such as a wedding, although the sigma still produces some fantastic shots)

ARGH!

I know a wedding photographer that only uses a 17-40 F4L and a 70-200 F2.8L IS

Infact alot of his shoots he uses those two lenses with the 300 f2.8L thrown in for motorsports.

Now a question: would it be cheaper to buy a 17-40 F4L in the U.S or singapore?
