Thanks for the comments, props to Wazza for the idea tho!

Where are these reviews you speak of? I would love to borrow a Canon now that I've used a good sigma. The canon is better on paper and I've read reviews that say it's sharper.... :S

I was reading the user reviews on the Amazon pages (external link) yesterday (German sorry)
OK In Fredmiranda It gets lower points, but also gets very good reviews. Seem to be some bad copies occasionally though.
I think the Sigma covers my needs
There are also reviews that say the Sigma is sharper on Freds pages!

Those are excellent shots Kirst. I love them. Looks like a fun night

Thanks Peter :) It was a blast!

I think I will buy the sigma 10-22 today.
It gets better reviews than the Canon & is much cheaper.
I have been offered a Job photographing an Animal hotel for the web. As they want the rooms to look good, I think an Ultra wide angle will be necessary.
I also want to try it for some Ultra Closeup skiing photos over Christmas

Excellent stuff... but I think you mean the 10-20 ;)

Sarah, Aaron, great shots so far :)

Nice fun pics :D

Love the guy/girl ones too Kirst ;)

Here's a full res one from last night, unedited

Good to see edge to edge sharpness from the 17-40
(the sharpened edges you can see is from the Landscape mode I generally shoot in, still RAW though... settings are automatically saved and transferred through to the outputted files, unlike 20D)

This was shortly before I got told to go away, by security.

That is excellent Warren. I love the colours.

Why would security ask you to leave?

well I got off my fat bum akiwi, and did a tour around the Coromandel - slept in Fletcher Bay (as far as the road goes to the top) and Opito Beach (out east) - everywhere was gorgeous, loved every minute of it - and met some amazing people on the way.

Ben - he was hitching and I took him up to fletcher bay - then he walked over to stony bay with his friends:

and his friends, Chelsea and Ashley:

They were all Americans here on an ECO-school exchange, hitching around NZ.

This guy was an Isreali bee-keeper who had been here 3 months and was working down in Waikato somewhere, he was just chilling on Hahei beach - he was cool, if a little hard to understand - I made him juggle bluebottles....... *giggle*

Get off your fat bums & do something then!!"
There are hundreds of ways to make money! If you dedicate some time & don't waste your time chatting on forums.

I make US $400.00 per month through Stock photography & don't have to do anything at the moment. I invested some time & got about 500 photos online & they earn for me. It takes time, but i worth the investment.

I talk to people & offer them photo shoots.
Get your photos on display like Lance did & you will also make something. Just don't complain here & waste your time doing nothing about it!

Amen!

It's run by british airways. They're super-paranoid about security. There's even signs up that say you're not allowed to take professional camera gear on the ride..
