If you let it warm up to room temp. (inside a closed plastic bag, which you put it in before you bring it inside - condensation) before using, battery life won't be affected that you'll notice. We used to keep batteries (especially once mercury button cells were outlawed) in the freezer along with the film to extend their life. Jon
