I went to the beach to shoot some surf but the conditions were garbage for the standard surf stuff. There was fog/haze and low stratus that kept going in an out. I caught a break in the sun and shot this. My wife loves it but I don't know if I'm such a big fan. What do you guys think?

I like it.

Plus, it makes me jealous of the guy in the barrel.

There's a certain mood to the shot.

I have a few similar shots as well. As far as liking them, I go back and forth so I understand where you're coming from.

I suspect it will grow on you. It's a very nice shot.

I kinda like it.

And on a semi-related note, here's one i took a few years ago. See anything familiar?

Thanks folks. Yea, Santa Cruz is a very picturesque place when you can get the right lighting. It's been stormy the past few days and stormy in Santa Cruz means no photos (fog and low clouds, not lightning and ominous clouds).

yes i love surf images like this - surf shots can get boring if they're all tightly cropped and only focusing on maneuvers, so wide shots of the lineup/scene are always refreshing.

overexpose some more please!
