Pekka, I hope you don't get irritated with me for doing this So many people suggest this lens or that, and I thought it would be interesting to see what lens was used by a photographer I admired.

Of the 165 images that were selected for public viewing, the following breakdown is noted: ( from wide to tele )

Sigma 14 mm - 10%
Sigma 20 mm - 8%
Canon 28-135IS - 1%
Canon 50 mm -24%
Canon 70-200 -56%

I don't know the dates these lenses were put in service. i.e, the 28-135 may be a week old, or may be the oldest and least loved.

I am considering the Canon 70-200 and enjoy the resource that is here on this site. Thanks Pekka.

Paul

Actually, I have sold 28-135 because I never liked it very much. I'm spoiled by the big white one.

Reason Canon 70-200 is used so much (and will be used): 2.8 over whole range, great image quality, quiet, feels good, sharp with even 1.4X and 500D together!

I really like 50 f/1.4 just because photos from it has a special look in them. It is less intimidating for subjects and it is the sharpest of all.

Sigma 20 is quite new, I carry it a lot. But still I feel that maybe 24 or 28 is what I would need more.

Sigma 14 is very special lens for special places and special weather. I don't use it much, but sometimes it is essential to have it.

Pekka, your images inspired me to buy Canon last fall when I bought my G2. Your D30 images inspired me to move to the D60 recently. Knowing what you favor for shooting pictures, helps direct me in my quest for new glass. Thanks for the post. Am currently pricing the 70-200.

Great shots all, Pekka.

Thanks again Pekka

Bought 70-200 and 50 1.4 today. .

I have been a Canon guy from way back, but without your website, I probably would have bought a Nikon 990 or 995 last year. My guess is that would have led me into the Nikon DSLR path. I hope Canon appreciates the sales value of your website. The least they could do would be supply you with product at cost. Better yet would be long term evaluation product

Thanks for the info Pekka, will be playing with lenses today...

Paul
