1D: Replacing old parts gives a whole new view!

I have been using my 1D now for a little under two years now and still love the camera. (I have also used a Digital Rebel, D60, and now have a 20D too.) I was cleaning the sensor and decided to really try to clean the rest of the camera really good. While looking thru the viewfinder and comparing it with the 20D I noticed the 1D looked a little yellow when peeking thru the viewfinder. I just figured it was the older tech of the camera. Then I had an idea while I was looking at the focus screen and decided maybe if I replace it, it will brighten things up a little. Let me tell you, It worked like a charm and cost under $40.00 shipped. If you have an older 1D it is super simple to do. You literally pop out the old and pop in the new. Do it, you will not regret it!!!!!

So did your old focus screen become discolored over time, or has it always been like that?

I am not sure to be honest. I can only tell you the new one is whiter and brighter!
