I need a little advice here.

I have tried these combinations on both my 5d and the 40d, and both times, I get a ERR message after trying to take a shot.

My combinations are these...

(1) Life Size Converter + body/58mm reversing ring + reversed 28mm super-tak

(2) Sigma 1.4x + Extension tubes + body/58mm reversing ring + reversed super-tak

I am assuming that the camera won't create an exposure if it doesn't recognize a lens contact. The LSC and TC both have connection pins, and when I go reverseing using the body/ring, it thinks there isn't a lens?

Help! ???

If I remove the LSC or Teleconverter, the camera allows an exposure with just the body/reversing ring + reversed lens. I'm miffed...

Not sure why you get that error but you don't normally useTC's with a body reversed lens. Suspect you can't use an electronic coupled TC without having an electronically coupled lens. So I'd guess if you want to do this you would have to tape the TCs electronic contacts. I certainly had no problem with this sort of thing using couplings with no contacts.

thanks for the tip Brian. will try this out...just trying to get some higher magnification without sacrificing too much working distance... I know, we're talking inches here, but I am thinking of the lighting too, and getting it in front of the subject with an off camera flash or strobe. If the lens is practically touching my subject, it is hard to evenly light. I do not have a macro flash either.

let's see how this works out, and again, thanks!

Taping the contacts on the TC and LSC did the trick. Thanks again. I'm off and shooting again, at what I calculate, is almost 4:1 magnification.

Excellent - I think some of the TC's are just too clever and do communicate with the camera.
