I mean, the sealing in my Swiss Army watch needs to be replaced every two years. After 5,6 years, would the rubber in the 1D still work?

Poof! A la Mission Impossible. What's the point of this stupid response. OP question actually makes a lot of sense. Natural wear of rubber seal will defenetly make it less efficient after so many years. For that you would probably have to call canon but they most likely will tell you to send it in for seals replacement so they can charge You for that. Lukasz Drogowski

My 1D II is from 2004-ish and I had it out in a steady rainfall (somewhere between sprinkling steadily and a downpour) along with the 70-200IS and 580EX II. I didn't have any protection on it otherwise, and it was fine. You shouldn't be as dumb as I am though, and put some sort of plastic protection over your entire rig regardless of whether it's sealed or not, since it's "weather resistant" not "water sealed." There. Is that better, Lukasz? ![]() There You go ...Now we all learned something Lukasz Drogowski

I just bought a mint 1D with only 49K clicks for a very, very reasonable price...better than what's selling on eBay, and no shipping/tax costs. Gotta have it! 5D mark II

disneydork06 Cream of the Crop More info | Dec 16, 2007 14:25 | #13 Thanks. You should see the original. the lighting is horrible because of the lowell observatory so all the lights in town are like an orange yellow cast on everything. it helps keep the visibility of the sky so the telescope can find our former 9th planet Ryan

I just made sure to make the snow as white as possible. so basically I eyeballed this on my laptop. kinda nice that it came out. I see. That's actually nice. I want to shoot the Milk Way, but it's impossible to do in town... segasaturn wrote in post #4516147 The rubber should be fine.
