I'm still considering it.

Happy Shopping!

Just saw that Adorama has it for $1199.

$100 price drop 2 weeks before X-mas. Interesting. Sales not up to expectations? We should see prices fall further in January.

It is back up to 1299. Seems that all Canon products introduced at retail price drop about 2 months after introduction. Seems that happens with most electronics, regardless of company. (of course, I can't wait, so always wind up paying full price)

I ordered it from Adorama when I saw it for $1199 this morning. It was too good to resist and I guess others saw it too. Sorry about that.

I think you'll like it. I am happy with mine. The liveview comes in really handy to me--I've never been able to focus manually very effectively since I switched to digital (viewfinder is small). The 14bit raw is my favorite part about the camera, honestly. I was running low on flash card space (since fixed) and I switched to jpeg. I came home and had underexposed a bit on some shots. Was able to fix the raw files, no problem. The jpegs were usable for what I needed, but they were far less acceptable. I just had been shooting raw for a long time and now with the extra bits, it is even better, I think (totally subjective).

Thanks. I always shoot RAW + small JPEG, so I think I will be happy with it. And I have the 5D, which is what I still plan on using a lot indoors, but the 40D is going to be my main sports cam. Can't wait!
