Don't know where else I'd post this...

but what programs does everyone use to browse the many, many pictures I'm sure are saved on hard drives?

I run win2000, I know XP has a built in browser that you can just scroll through pictures with

What I'm looking for is something that's full screen, and can be scrolled forward using a click on the picture from a mouse or another device, and that can scroll through multiple sub-folders within a single main folder

much thanks

I use lightroom, for most part. I also use media expression as I owned it before getting lightroom.

I use LR too... but Photoshop Elements will do this as well.

Both LR and Elements are a bit different than Faststone and irfanview.
With the Adobe products mentioned, you must first import the images into a catalog (not actually moving or duplicating your images... it just references where they are already at.)

If you're interested in tagging your images with keywords, these are great for that. Elements, in particular, makes it easy to find images based on multiple keywords, which is fun...

(imagine looking for a specific image with Bob, Sue, and Joe... if you have keywords applied, you can click the box next to each; and you instantly see only the images they have ALL those tags applied.)

I use Picasa (external link) :)

Fast, free, convenient, and GREAT searching capabilities. I just learned about its ability to search using keywords like "focal:50" or "iso:1600" and am having fun looking through pictures with those attributes! And of course, its nice to be able to just click and have things up on blogs or in web albums.

IrfanView is pretty good by all accounts (never did much for me in all honesty), there's also XnView, which runs on nearly every available O/S platform available.

FastStone is pretty good, and free

BreezeBrowser Pro is also good (and cheap) and also works with Downloader Pro (also cheap) that downloads stuff from your card reader.
