Not sure if this is the right place for this, but considering it's a studio related question I thought I'd ask here. Where is the best place to buy seamless paper backgrounds? I'm just looking for some basic colors for now, grey, white, black maybe red.

Thanks

I just got mine from B&H. I also ordered the paper counterweights that make the end of the paper easier to deal with. They're about 32.00 each.

Join NAPP. You'll get free shipping from B&H for a year.

*When I called in my last order I just mentioned I was a NAPP member and they waived the charges w/o even asking for my member ID#.

I know B&H has probably the best rep in general, but are they the best prices for this type of thing? So far they seem to have the best prices I can find on the paper itself, but I haven't checked the cost of shipping yet. It may be worth the cost of the NAPP membership to save the shipping. lol

I think even with B&H shipping it might be cheaper.

I bought 53" for $22. Shipping to CA was $9. So total $31. My local shops here in Bay Area charge lot more.

Now 107" roll at B&H is $40. Shipping to CA is $16. That $56 is cheaper than driving to a strore 10 miles from your home, IMHO.

Ditto, you get free 3-5 day shipping and if you want faster, you get the cost of 3-5 day shipping applied to the cost of the faster option.

I should also add, you get free shipping during the entire term of membership, not just the first year.

is that NAPP membership for people in USA only?
I got muslin backgrounds from B&H, really amazing, and that wrinkles are not an issue, at least i can wash fold and so easily rather than paper which scratching always and got dirty easily [muslin too but easy to wash ;)], and for long using and working with kids i may lot more on papers than muslin itself.

if you can get it local, do it.

for a 12' B&H wants more for shipping than they do for the product

They're too long to go UPS without the oversize premium. The wide rolls may be too long for UPS, period (I'm not sure).

If you have a local camera shop that sells them, that might be your best bet. They can order a bunch at a time and get a better deal on the truck shipment.

No, but free B&H shipping for NAPP only applies in the US.

For roll paper buy local. Shipping will kill you due to the obtuse size.

Look for large theatrical supply houses, not camera stores. They typically have a much better supply of roll paper that all but the absolutely largest camera stores (B&H, Adorama, Calumet, etc).

In Colorado you may be limited to Denver, but there might also be something in Boulder, Colorado Springs, or Ft Collins.

You are definately not going to find roll paper in Red Feather Lakes or Walden.

The common 9 foot roll paper comes two ways, with a center spindle, or without (like toilet paper). The spindle adds about 5 to 10 dollars to the price, but makes the roll much easier to deal with when the paper roll starts to get toward the end. New, with or without a spindle is about the same, but as the paper is discarded, the center spindle gives the roll a lot more robustness

Enjoy! Lon
