Right, Hello everyone, I have been looking through these forums for days now and am amazed at some of the brilliant pictures. I recently bought an EOS 1000D and have been taking loads of pics. Tonight I decided(after gaining inspiration from this thread ) to venture down the road to the harbour and try some 10sec plus pics. It is much more diffcult then I imagined, made even more diffcult by the numbers of "boy racers" that hang around the car park above the harbour. I can see that I will have to pick a quieter time and spend some time trying lots of different settings. So I will just post one pic that I think is the best of my efforts for this evening and throw myself open to your valued comments, thank you, Faing.

F8 10 seconds ISO-400.
What am I doing wrong?
PS. its a harbour on the River Shannon called Foynes.

I am not familiar with your camera, but just put it in Av Mode, and take the shot. Shutter speed, up to 30 seconds, is set by the camera, depending on the ambient light. You can see in the viewfinder how long it says, if it's over 30 seconds, drop the aperture f/number to speed it up.

Used to go there with my ex wife all the time, sure miss it. I'm guessing this shot was taken just south of the Hilton and the Hale Koa.
