It's that time again.

I bought a $1199 40D yesterday, $2300 Dell early December, $29 wireless mouse, $100 worth of Ultra II's on Black Friday, $79 160 gb hard drive, $19 card reader, $60 notebook bag (nothing else fit:cry:) so far.

That makes me poor.

We do this every year. Someone starts it and people confess. It's actually therapeutic to see that you're not the only one spending like crazy on yourself.

I just got into photography. Never had the money for such an expensive hobby but I just graduated and landed a pretty decent job...so I thought I'd treat myself to something nice for Christmas. All this was purchased within the last 3 weeks or so.

XTi = $625 -$60 (sold kit lens) = $565
Sigma 10-20mm = $468
Hoya SHMC 77mm UV = $35
Canon 28-135mm IS USM = $280 (bought brand new from a friend who bought a 40D kit)
Hoya SHMC 72mm filter = $37
Canon EW-78BII lens hood = $30
Extra Battery = $30
Lowepro Photorunner Bag = $50
Manfrotto Modo 785B Tripod = $80
Digital Rebel field guide by Charlott K. Lowrie (book) - $14 (I'm coming from a Canon Powershot SD450 thats why I need this book!)

Total spent: $1589.
I'm worried that I will get addicted and start buying L lenses .

Joining this forum is terrible for ones wallet. I purchased the 10D right before joining. It's been 2 years of spending and having the time of my life. Sit back and enjoy the ride because POTN and its members really make photography fun.

Thanks Suzie!

Looking at your "gear" you've spent quite a lot in the past 2 years lol.

OK, all of my receipts are packed and I don't remember them all:

40D
100-400 $1249
70-200 IS L2.8
17-55 IS 2.8
580 flash
some lighting stands
some remote lighting triggers (why can't I remember their names? Not PWs, not the cheapie Ebay ones)
some umbrellas and various other bits
8 GB card
2 500 GB hard drives
Lowepro phototrek bag $50
Shootsac $150 + cover $30

I'm sure there's a ton of other stuff...I added 50 pounds of luggage to my return trip LOL

WOW, Kristin. You must have started your own business! Yes, I've been there. I now cannot fit everything I have in 2 bags, and the lights and stuff can't fit in the little car.
