This photo was taken of my Great Grandfather in 1903 and I spent some time in PS fixing him up.

I think you have done a good job, but could it be just a bit brighter?

I prefer the repaired version..(Sorry MKII)

IMHO it show what it is, an image from the early 1900....The only thing i would do is lighten it a bit and PS some of the background "spots" along the repair line on both sides of his face...

I think that you did a good job, but I will say, just in a constructive type way, that you can see pretty much exactly where you did the repair, particularly the part leading up from his eye, it's an obvious difference from the background, because it's so soft and even looking. I restore photos a lot, I love it.. good show thou :) I would probably take out some of the white spots too. There is an excellent tutorial on that over at retouchpro.com.

I am super cool n' stuff.

Nice work Chris!
If I may suggest, I'd run some burn tool on the eye on camera right a bit, its looking a bit "cloudy", darken the iris a bit on that one and you should be good to go. Nicely done.

Thank you all for your great help and advice, I shall keep on practicing.

I have just had thousands of family photos going back from 1880 to the 1950.

I come from Trinidad in the West Indies and my Grandmother's family arrived from Spain in 1503 on the third voyage of Christopher Columbus.

The photo is my great Grandfather Enrique Permuy with whom I lived until he died when I was 5, he was Knighted by the King of Spain for his services to South America where he was a Counsel General for 5 countries.

On his chest is also a rare honour the Simon Bolivar medal.

Below are his medals and his calling card, the "Chevalier" denotes his Knighthood the other photo is him and his wife and children, my Grandmother is the little girl at her mother's arm, Juanita Permuy.

I will post more as I attempt more restorations.

Thanks again for your kind help, I am new to this game and need all the help I can get.

Cheers

Chris
