Yes...?

If you're asking whether you can use them on an EOS camera, the short answer is no. You can get adapters for the Leica R range though.

If I were to become quite wealthy, I'd probably buy the M8 and a host of Leica lenses. Until then, though, they remain a pipe dream. Sure, I'd love a compact digital rangefinder for discreet people shooting. I'd also like to do it for less than $17,900. ($5500 for the body, $3600 for the 35 f/1.4, $3000 for the 50 f/1.4, $2800 for the 75 f/2, $3000 for the 90 f/2).

The M8 is nice. I pine again for my 5D, though. Horses for courses.

Patrick:

To get answers on this matter:

http://forum.manualfocus.org/ (external link)

http://forum.mflenses.com/ (external link)

And yes, I posted some links - there isn't much info on this site about converting lenses for EOS use compared to those sites. Which is really to be expected - we use a lot of Canon lenses.

You cannot use Leica-M lenses on a Canon EOS camera.

The back focus is incorrect. You can use Leica-R lenses with a simple adapter.

Have the back focus remedied by Canon, they're able to calibrate such things surely.

No. It's the flange to film distance that's different. You won't be able to use them.

How about remove the mirror and use live view, might need a recessed adapter, I recommend the 1DsMkIII so you can spend the most.:D

It's the flange to film/sensor distance. This cannot be "remedied by Canon", unless you ask them to build you a new rangefinder camera.

So it's not "surely".
