Well found a battery to test the camera out with thanks to my friends.

The flash button is indeed stuck and there seems to be another issue with the camera as well. Every picture taken with any of my lenses is +2 stops over exposed.

So in short I am waiting for them to let me know how they want it shipped back.

If they will refund me the money and I buy from some place else I was thinking of getting a flash as well. Could any one recommend a good flash to use on the 10D right at $100 or less?

The pop-up flash is a known issue on ALL of Canon's cameras that use it. There is a microswitch under the hotshoe that overrides the pop-up when an external flash is mounted. Sometimes this switch will stick, causing the pop-up to remain in the down position when the button is pressed. I have had four cameras with pop-up flashes (2X A-2s, D60 and 20D) and all four have had this problem. The best solution is using an external flash. I'd recommend a 430EX or a good used 550EX.

As far as the overexposure is concerned, can you furnish a picture with the EXIF information intact? It may be there are some settings that can be changed...

For the flash being stuck, you can pull off the hot shoe.

Do that, then see if you can get the button wiggled free.

Troubleshooting 101 (see also: LightRules,perryge):
1) RTFM.
2) Repeat Step 1.

I just read back over your other thread. I don't know about the 10D, but on my D60 (predecessor to the 10D) the flash button sits flush with the surface of the body. You actually have to press it below the surface to get the flash to pop up.
I took a look at the photo of the 10D. My inclination would be to send it back. If there is that much wear on the front of the camera, then it's seen very hard useage. I'm not gentle with my gear and my 20D is showing a lot less cosmetic flaws than that in three years.

Yea thats the main concern is that it looks like it has been beat up. The A2 that I have has hardly any thing on it and look how old it is.

As for the button it will not move at all. It is like it has been glued into place. The pop up flash works just fine as when your in the green zone and low light it pops it up just fine so its not that thats bad. It is the fact that when I payed for it there was no indication of any thing being functionally wrong with it and there is.

This is going to be my digital slr for the next who knows how long as I cant afford to get a new one every year or even every 2 or 3 so it needs to work and last.

I am headed out right now to get it shipped back. I just hope they will give me a refund for it as I was one day past there 7 day return policy on digital stuff. Seeing as it was a gift and I just got a battery that works for it I hope they dont hassle me.

ps. The other thing that bothered me is the fact that they sent the camera with out a body cap on it.

No body cap? I wouldn't do business with them again and if they give you any hassle just threaten to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive advertising...

As I just said in the other thread - that is NOT an excellent condition unit. Send it back.

It is on its way back to them and so far there are no indications of any hassle. Oh and one more thing I forgot it was missing the rubber eye piece. Thats not a huge deal but still annoying.

I mostly am going to keep every one posted on how they treat this that way you guys will know.

I've bought a number of used items from KEH, including my current DSLR. Excellent outfit, and in my experience you can trust their condition labels to be accurate.
