That is hard to say because each lens has a different purpose in life. Those that couldn't perform are gone.

My Canon EF 70-300 nonL is light weight and tack sharp. I can take a hand held picture of a small street sign 3/4 mile away, blow it up around 200% and have a legible image. To me that is simply amazing. It also provides good blur for normal pictures. It has a good IS and focuses reasonably fast.

My Canon EF-S 10-22mm is also tack sharp. It provides me a close up perspective and is outstanding for indoors, landscape and scenic photography. Again focusing is reasonably fast.

My EF-S 18-135mm is tack sharp as well. It is my general purpose workhorse. It also has IS and is quick to focus.

So I guess I will just have to nominate all three.

Mike

Sigma 85 f1.4

+1. Creamy bokeh. Razor sharp. Great colors. Only lens I own for which I have zero nit-picks. So good I just ordered the Sigma 35.

I just recently got my EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS, but it's been mentioned 88 times in this thread. I think that's very good indication that I will be very happy with this lens!

I was always impressed with the 24-85 F/3.5-4.5 for what it costs. I believe it's the best sub $200 zoom you can get for a 1.6x body. USM, full time manual focusing, internal focusing, and really compact and lightweight.

The only complaint I really had with it was photos lacked contrast, but that was easily fixable in post.

Here is the sample thread for it.

I thought no one would bring this lens up. I too find it a great walk around or candid lens with much better IQ than you might think:

My sharpest non-L is the 100 Macro.
