Try removing the camera battery as well as the memory back up battery, turn power switch to ON, let camera set for a few minutes. replace batteries and see if option returns.

Hi Pete. You've lost me a bit here I'm afraid. I can't see the connection between your computer crashing, EOS firmware (ver 11.0???? - I assume you mean ver 1.1.0) and not being able to see the menu option you mention on your 5D. The only thing I can think of as regards your 5D is that you have it in 'green box mode' (fully auto) as this is the only mode the two option you mention don't appear.

gofer,
DUHX2. :o:o:o I have been so burned by the crash that my brain is fried. I had to reload the EOS 11.0 disk because of the crash and decided to go to Canon USA to see if there were any updates while I was reloading all that. Saw a firmware update 1.1.0 so before I decided to download that I wanted to check my firmware ver. turned on the trusty 5D and waller nothing in the menu below FORMAT. YES IT WAS ON THE DREADED GREEN BOX. I had let two of my granddaughters use it to do a "day in the life of" for a school project and set it on idiot mode for them. Forgot to change the dial when I checked.
Thanks for your right on "shot".:)
Regards,
Pete
