Well, i figured it is a nice time to snag a discount 5D. The 5D prices have come down pretty low and there are some nice rebates.

How did I get the 5D from Adoroma at that price?

My out of the door, shipped price of the 5D / 24-105L Kit and Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Printer was $3259.90. I plan on selling the lens and the printer and I get a $500 rebate on this combination, so here is the math:

3260 Final cost of the package
-500 Rebate
-325 Sell the printer (going rate on eBay)
-925 Sell the lens
$1510 Net cost

A little work, but not too bad for a $1500 5D

Don't forget the ebay listing/fv/paypal fees and shipping.

True. Buyer pays shipping, should stay under $1600 with the ebay/paypal fees. Still not bad.

FYI, I see your selling a 17-85. I recently sold a lightly used 17-85mm IS on eBay for $400 Buy-it-now.

Cracking deal for a cracking camera :) Although I paid about $4,000 for mine 2 years ago I think it's been worth every penny, so at the price you're getting it for it's a fantastic price.

Beat me too it. If you have the $$ now, it's not a bad deal. If you are paying interst to your CC while you wait for the rebate, wait for items to sell, or just pay off the camera, then you still aren't getting a $1600 deal.

How so?

You'll sell the lens and printer right away. If you need a CC, then interest for 3 or 4 months on the $500 rebate is rather a moot point (about 15 or 20 bucks).

Interest on paying of the camera has nothing to do with the deal. You'll pay interest on whatever amount you pay. Besides, no interest for me :)

Less than $1600. Yep.

The interest isn't calculated only on the $500, not the average daily balance. You are also assuming that people will buy the printer/lens right away. Being Christmas and all, some of the potential buyers have spent their $$ elsewhere.

3 or four month interest is calculated against the total amount carried. Eventually, he will drop that amount by $500 when he gets the rebate. There is a big difference in the interest charged on a balance of $500 versus the balance of $2100 which, will eventually be dropped to $1600 after a few months.

Then again, it only applies if he has to finance the purchase by paying credit card interest.

Forget the calc on the printer, it sells new after rebate for $309 on Adorama. So you will get an average around 275 on ebay.

Two bodies left, some "soso" lenses, and still a lot of gear.....

A lot of folks forget that paying with a CC can be nothing more than a convenience. If you are like me you use the CC and when it shows on your card statement in a few days you pay it off electronically.

Interest on the credit card, paypal fees, even getting less money than planned for the sale items....it is a smoking deal no matter how you look at it. I foresee an influx of Pixma Pro printers and 25-105 L's on the market as more people go your route! Smart shopping...my hat is off to you!

Great deal! I wish I had the money for another 5D. It's my most used cam. For work, I could use 2 or 3.
