He was taking part in a Field Target event at Newbury, UK today. Temperature didn't rise above 2 degrees - the IS coped well with my shivering!

Wow, a Walther FT rifle. In the UK? FT? I'll assume it is an air rifle then. Wait, I see a refill fitting on the front of the air cylinder under the muzzle brake. Yep, PCP air rifle.

I have a PCP of my own (and a springer too) but nothing like that!

Is that a "Canon" scope? It's white. I'm not sure who makes a white scope. I suspect it is a high end unit that I've not heard of.

Yep it's a field target gun. A Walther Dominator.

The scope is a walther scope, as standard they come black, but i've dipped this white to reduce the potential impact of temperature. We set the scopes on high mag, typically 30-50x and use the extremely shallow depth of field and sharp optics to effectively rangefind our targets which are set at unknown ranges...at long ranges (55yds) we look to be able to be accurate within 3ft of distance, but closer in we can start to measure within inches. It's necessary because the guns only fire a light pellet at around 7-800 fps which drops quite a bit at long ranges, and by the time you add windage it becomes important to know very precisely the range if you are to hit a 40mm disk at those sorts of distances, especially in competition.

yep we do...in fact we they get shot at a couple of events and along side the grand prix FT series (assuming you mean airgun sil's)

yep do they shoot air pistol also and if so what is the gun of choice?

for silhouettes?

I think there's a few that do, but it's a quite a small scene...
