I put up a post about a week or two ago discussing the interference issue I was having using my poverty wizards (gadget infinity) on my 5D. I found, after much research, that I was not the only one with this issue. 5D must be sensitive to certain bands of RF? Anyway...along come Skyports!

My question: Anyone use these on their 5D? If so could you examine the top portion of the frame (or left in portrait orientation) for interference?
The following link (https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=4440635&postcount=1) will take you to my original banding issue. Observe the left side of the frame for the interference I am referring to. Thanks guys.

you dont need a strobe. just shooting with the transmitter mounted (or throught the sync port) will still show up. i know...have about 100 shots of it! transmitter will fire whether there is a receiver or not. thanks.

Just tried, no interference in the pix.
Also did a ghetto style fix to fire the 580exII with the skyports, it triggered and still no interference.
There's a topic on the FM light forom about possible (EM) interference with skyports.

The Skyport system works in the 2.4GHz frequency band. You have eight discreet frequencies you can select to work with.

What frequency(ies) do the ebay units use?

I ordered a set of skyports for this very reason. Prolem solved, No more interference. No more misfires either.

It's very unlikely that the Skyports would interfere with the same circuitry that seems to be affected by the 433MHz signal. I would give the Skyport system a try.

I have been quite satisfied with my Skyport system, especially since they are half the price of the PocketWizard system.

ok thanks. sucks cause i love using the ebay slaves but that interference is horrible. i got the system firing at 100% too, up to about 175 feet. oh well. gotta give the ole credit card another work-out. thanks for the info.
