Apologies if this is a much-discussed question - I've looked around but don't really know what keywords to search with.

My question: what's going on with the server at 1330 hours PST (2130 hours GMT) every day?

I see the server freeze up for two to four minutes every day. Judging from duplicate posts, others see the same thing (and try to submit their post multiple times while the server is napping).

This isn't a complaint, just curiosity. Enquiring minds want to know!

Probably slowdown due to daily backups being taken. When it happens, just pause and reflect on life for about ten minutes.

You'll find then that the problem will clear.

It one of the "system maintenance" moments :) It usually takes about 2 minutes, and couple of minutes after that are slowish. BTW, you do not get a page up any quicker if you hit reload several times, click once and just wait and the page will come eventually up.

But, it is therapeutic to keep hitting the Refresh button.;)
