MP800 Coloured ink doesnt last long?

Hi all,

I have the Canon MP800 :

I do very little colour printing (My photos are printed online) but I find that the colour ink lasts around 1-2 months despite me using it for a bare minimum.

Does this printer use coloured ink to print B&W?

It is a great printer function wise but this ink issue is getting out of hand :(

Any comments would be most welcomed!
