I was having trouble today with my triggers... I have a 1/2 wave internal antenna. The flash was roughly 2-3 ft away from the camera. Camera was in vertical position, so the transmitter was facing to the left, and the flash was to the right. When I had my camera up to my face and took a shot, it didn't fire, when I pulled it away and pressed the test button it did fire.

Anyone care to do a close-range test?

Troubleshooting 101 (see also: LightRules,perryge):
1) RTFM.
2) Repeat Step 1.

The triggers don't work up close - stand further away.

Mine fires no matter how near, just tested after I read your post:

Glad to hear it now works.
Amazing isn't it?
Did you put the antenna back inside?

Thanks. I have not put the antenna back inside yet. Maybe I will put it back inside and try the test again this week. :)

I was having similar problems yesterday. I was about 3-4 ft. away from my receivers with flashes on them. One on the left and one on the right. When I try to take a photo, I have the following issues (one or the other, and sometimes a good photo).

1. Both flahes will not fire.
2. One will fire but not the other one.
3. Both will fire but I will get a black stripe on the bottom of the photo even though my shutter speed is only 1/60 or 1/50.
4. Under exposed photo even when my aperture was at f/4 and the flash is only 5 ft. away from the subject.

I am using one Quantaray QAF6600 and one Vivitar 2800. I will check it again when I get home today.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thx.

My new Cactus V2s receivers were delivered this afternoon.I just tested them and one is DOA. What a nightmare. I'm gonna email Gadget Infinity and see what they say. Hopefully I don't have to send it back to China.

The one on the left with a white switch instead of black is deffective. It doens't fire even with new Energizer Cr2 battery.

The battery cover keeps falling off.
The PC sync socket is also very tight and has ruined my pc sync to 2.5mm mono jack cable when I pulled it off.

Ok, I got a reply from Gadget insanity within 24 hours. I was told to send back the item, but sending back is about half price of item. Item could get lost in transit, and recorded delivery costs even more. Im not prepared to wait for 2+ weeks. I'll just buy another one. Neutral feedback left to seller with explanation.
F*&%ing annoying!

It's reasonable for them to ask for the faulty product back before sending a new one, else everyone would claim to have a faulty one. I had one faulty unit, shipping back to them cost me about five dollars, air mail. Sure it takes a little time.

Yes I understand that, but they don't refund you back the postage you paid. I'll just get another one:mad:.

There will be times when you will be in the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. Don't be bitter because you can't record it. Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is! ~DeGriff

I think buying from Midewest Photo Exchange (external link) would be better since they have a 15 days return/ exchange. Shipping is also cheap if using USPS, so sending the product back to them should not be a problem.

I have never bought anything from them but I have seen some posts of other members who bought these V2s from them. Can anyone tell us their experience with mpex?

I think its a better option to buy it in your home country if its available rather than chingchong. So if problem should arise (like me:() its cheaper to send it back.

I forgot to mention that Midwest Photo Exchange (mpex.com) is located at Columbus, OH 43202, USA. So, for US buyers, it's a reasonable place to buy from IMO. Recommended by Strobist (external link), too. :)
