I'm never averse to asking a foolish question, so here goes... I've read only positive reviews and comments about the Kodak 8500 dye-sublimation printer but I would like to ask specifically about its "black" ability.

I'm accustomed to seeing CMYK -- cyan, magenta, yellow and black -- but the Kodak 8500 uses only CMY sheets to produce its blacks. Because I hear about "black plates" in my advertising work and I know that early inkjet printers had problems producing true blacks from CMY cartridges and added a black cartridge as well, I would just like to verify that I'm going to get wonderful black-and-white images from this machine before I purchase.

Since every reviewer loves this printer, I assume it does an admirable job at producing midnight blacks, but user confirmation would be appreciated since half my work will be printing black-and-white infrared shots.

Thanks in advance.

Don
